At the helm of the transportation practice in Hawkins Delafield & Wood’s New York office, Sam Litton oversees major clients, like the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York State Thruway Authority and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. “I always liked the idea of doing work that is beneficial to the world versus doing work that is solely beneficial to me,” said Litton.

Litton is extremely proud of his recent work with the New York MTA. Litton represents both the MTA and its affiliate, the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, as disclosure counsel. In this capacity, he assists MTA and TBTA in complying with their disclosure obligations by drafting offering documents, assisting in the preparing of their annual report, answering periodic disclosure-related inquiries, and assisting MTA and TBTA in filing periodic notices. The agencies move about 8.6 million customers per day and are vital to New York.

“Having a hand in keeping the transit system and the citizens of New York moving is what I am most proud of,” said Litton.

“Innovation is where Sam truly shines,” said Kevin Murphy, a partner at Hawkins. “From pioneering new strategies to tackling client challenges to spearheading groundbreaking initiatives, like the New York Power Authority’s transmission project revenue bond credit, he consistently pushes the boundaries of traditional legal practice.”

Beyond his professional achievements, Litton’s dedication extends to mentoring the next generation of legal talent and giving back to his community through service on the board of trustees at his local library and volunteering for organizations like the New York and New Jersey Trail Conference.
